Further experimentation with this reveals that the angle snapping in Projection Master ONLY works if I enter PM with some specific brushes active in 3d mode, with Lazy mouse switched on. The new functionality in 3d mode is: Make sure Lazy mouse is active. If turned off, the tool will have a slight rotation to its alignment as the ZTool is moved to either corner of the canvas.
